Working Remotely on Windows 2000/2003 Server


Terminal Services technology lets you to use Universal Document Converter on a remote Windows 2000/2003 Server the same way as you use it on the local computer.

1. Terminal Server (Host) Settings

  • Login with Administrator privileges on Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2003 Server
  • Open Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs
  • Click Add/Remove Windows Components button at the left panel
  • Click Components button, then check Terminal Services checkbox in components list and click Next to finish the installation:

  • Open Terminal Services Configuration from
    Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools
  • Select the Connections group, right-click on the RDP-TCP connector and select Properties:

  • Open the Permissions tab, click Add button, select user or group and assign the appropriate permissions:

Now your server is ready to be used as Host Terminal Server.


2. Client Computer Settings

  • Windows 95/98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000/2003:
    • You can download the lastest version of the Remote Desktop Connection Client software from: Remote Desktop Connection Software Download site
    • Or you can create Terminal Sevices Client software with the help of Windows 2000/2003 Server where Terminal Sevices installed. Open the Terminal Sevices Client Creator from Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools, select platform and click OK button:

    • Install Terminal Sevices Client software on a Client computer
  • Windows XP:
    • The Remote Desktop Connection software is pre-installed with Windows XP Professional and can be found from Start->Programs->Accessories->Communications
    • This software package can also be installed from the Windows XP Professional or Windows XP Home Edition product CD

3. Start Terminal Services Session

  • Open the Remote Desktop Connection Client or Terminal Sevices Client software on Client computer
  • Type name or IP address of the Host computer that has Terminal Services installed and click Connect button:

  • In the Log On to Windows dialog box, type your user name, password, and domain (if required), and then click OK. The desktop window will open and you will see the settings, files, and programs that are on a remote server.

Now you can use Universal Document Converter on a remote server the same way you use it on local computer!
